PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) - A mother and daughter are granting a Christmas wish for a complete stranger.

The mom and daughter team is decorating a Christmas tree for a woman in Plainville.

Ruth Olson will be 87 in January, she's a great grandmother nine times over, and is as sharp as ever, but in recent years, she's had to slow down a bit.

"I'm not able to do it anymore, I've always had a tree, I didn't last year, and I couldn't put one up this year," said Ruth.

That's where Lynn Seery and her 6-year-old daughter Bella come in.

Bella said her favorite part of the experience was decorating the tree.

Lynn and Bella were hard at work thanks to the UGLY Fund. UGLY stands for Unnecessary Gifts and Luxuries for the Young-at-Heart. It's managed through the non-profit, Connecticut Community Care , and it pays for elderly residents to get one wish.  The Wish List was published in the local paper.

"I had wanted to do something with my daughter, so I read all of them to her and then let her pick the one that she wanted to do," said Lynn Seery.

So they came to the home in Plainville bearing gifts.

"We just brought the tree and the lights and the stand and we brought a few ornaments that Bella made from home," said Lynn.

Bella's hand made ornaments along with Ruths ornaments went up on the tree.

"It's been nice to be able to give and kind of see right away, what joy it brings," said Lynn.

The two will be back after New Year's to take it all down.

"I didn't feel Christmas until now, it makes you feel like Christmas," said Ruth.

for those who would like to get involved, you can contact the UGLY Fund, that is through the Connecticut Community Care.
