Red Velvet Waffles with Vanilla Ice Cream and Simple Blueberry Syrup
1 box red velvet cake mix
1 1/3 cups water
1/3 cup oil
Nonstick cooking spray
Vanilla ice cream
1 cup frozen blueberries, defrosted
1 ½ cups maple syrup
Instructions: For waffles: Combine all ingredients together in a bowl. Spray waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray. Fill waffle iron as you would with typical batter and bake accordingly. Top with vanilla ice cream. For syrup: Add blueberries to maple syrup. Warm in microwave for 2 minutes. Pour over waffles and ice cream.
Mini Berry Tarts
1 box Athens fillo shells
1 package vanilla instant pudding
2 cups cold milk
1 pint blueberries
1 pint raspberries
Orange zest for garnish
Confectioners sugar for garnish
Instructions: Prepare pudding according to directions. Fill each fillo shell with pudding and top with mixed berries, confectioners sugar and orange zest.
Red, Blue and White Chocolate Bark
White melting chocolate or chocolate chips
Equal parts dried cherries, cranberries, blueberries
Instructions: Melt chocolate over double broiler. Turn off heat and pour in dried fruit. Transfer to a parchment lined cookie sheet. Freeze. Break into assorted sized pieces or serve with a kitchen mallet and allow guests to break their own.
1 box red Jell-O
1 box blue Jell-O
Red and blue Pop Rocks
Instructions: Make red and blue Jell-O according to package directions. Cut out star shapes using a cookie cutter. Top each with a sprinkle of Pop Rocks.
Patriotic S'mores on a Stick
1 package marshmallows
1 (12 oz.) bag chocolate chips (milk or dark)
3 cups graham cracker crumbs
Red, white and blue non-perils
You will also need: Popsicle sticks
Melt chocolate over a double broiler. Poke a stick through a jumbo marshmallow and dip into chocolate. Roll in graham cracker crumbs and non-perils. Rest on a parchment lined baking sheet and freeze briefly to harden.
1 bottle red Hawaiian Punch
1 bottle blue Gatorade light (Must be light)
1 pint lemon sherbert
Instructions: Fill your glass up all the way to the top with ice. Fill your glass about 1/3 of the way with Hawaiian Punch. Slowly pour in Gatorade. Top with a scoop of lemon sherbert.
1 package sugar cookie mix
½ cup butter
1 container vanilla frosting
Assorted red, white and blue candies/sprinkles
Prepare cookie mix according to instructions. Spread it onto a pizza pan. (Plastic wrap is very helpful here.) Bake about 10 minutes or until golden and cooked through. Once cooled, spread with frosting and top as desired.
