From hurricanes to blizzards, Connecticut is no stranger to severe weather. With this in mind, News 8 is proud to present Connecticut Weather: On the Edge, a four part mini-series on our state’s weather. In this series, Storm Team 8 meteorologists, Dr. Mel Goldstein, Gil Simmons, Steve MacLaughlin, Steve Villanueva, and Erica Grow will discuss how our small state still manages to have such extremes in weather. The first installment of Connecticut Weather: On the Edge will air Friday April 29th, at 11:20pm on News 8.

The first episode of Connecticut Weather: On the Edge, explores the recent tragedy in Japan and investigates the very real possibility that such an event could happen here. The special highlights Connecticut’s most earthquake prone region, which was noted hundreds of years ago by Native Americans in our state. Connecticut Weather: On the Edge also examines the current safety surrounding Connecticut’s own nuclear power plant and even revisits Dr Mel’s time as a special aide to Governor Ella Grasso, during the Three Mile Island melt-down.

Part one of Connecticut Weather: On the Edge will air at 11:20pm on Friday, April 29th on News 8. This is the first in a four-part series of weather specials hosted by News 8’s Darren Kramer, featuring the expertise of News 8’s team of meteorologists, Storm Team 8.
