STAR 99.9's Food for Friends

STAR 99.9 and Stop & Shop are teaming up to help fight hunger in Connecticut this holiday season with Food for Friends, a Thanksgiving Food Drive. On Tuesday, November 24th, STAR 99.9 will broadcast live from 5am through 7pm from three different Stop & Shop’s: 1790 Post Road East in Westport, 898 Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton and 855 Bridgeport Avenue in Milford. STAR 99.9 will be collecting non-perishable food items, frozen turkeys, and cash donations.

In 2008, Connecticut Food Bank served about 250,000 people. This year, Connecticut Food Bank expects to serve more than 300,000 people. Food and money collected from this campaign will go directly to families in Connecticut this holiday season.

Last year, STAR 99.9 collected over $16,000 in cash donations, over 1100 frozen turkeys, and over 13,000 pounds of food. According to the Connecticut Food Bank , that converts to over 75,000 meals.

Those who cannot make the food drive can also donate online via the virtual food drive .
