(WTNH) - When we met Brianna, she was bouncing and bopping to Bieber. She loves Justin Bieber. Of course she does, she's 7.
For the last several months, Brianna has lived at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, and she's done very well.
Her ability to settle here for a time has been helpful, and I think it'd be much better, and she would be much better, in a stable home environment with a loving family," said Dr. John Pelegano from the Hospital for Special Care.
That's the hope, that Brianna finds a loving family, and the stability that comes along with it.
Caring for her will be challenging. She'll need help with most day-to-day activities. Brianna's sight, hearing, and ability to get around are impaired, but her bright smile fills your heart.
"You're going to have to measure your gains with her a little bit different than another child, but they are going to be wonderful and just so exciting to see," Katie Churchill, a DCF Adoption Resource Specialist said.
Doctors and staff are prepared to help the right family welcome Brianna into their lives, because although she's lived, even thrived at the hospital, it isn't a home.
"It's not a family, and that's what we want for all the kids that we're working with. She deserves that, and needs that, and will do just so much better with that," said Churchill.
If you are interested in adopting Brianna, or learning more about becoming a foster parent, you can call 800-842-6348, or visit the Department of Children and Families website.
