(WTNH) -- Author Charis Freiman-Mendel shares a back-to-school comfort food recipe.
Freiman-Mendel is the author of "Cook Your Way Through The S.A.T.," a cookbook that helps teens and tweens learn standardized test vocabulary.

Cacio E. Pepe
Ingredients:
1 lb spaghetti
1.5 cups grated Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp salt
Black peppercorns in a pepper mill
1 pint pasta water
Directions:
1. While the pasta is cooking according to package instructions, grate the Parmesan cheese.
2. Once the pasta is done cooking, save 1 pint of pasta water and set aside.
3. Drain the pasta and place back into the pot
4. Sprinkle in the Parmesan cheese
5. Add 50 turns of fresh pepper from the pepper mill
6. Pout in the past water and stir the entire mixture together
7. Serve the Cacio E. Pepe in the pot.
Serving suggestion: serve Cacio E. Pepe with baked bread/olive oil and a Caprese salad.
