Author David Fitzpatrick ( www.davidfitzpatrickbooks.com ) joins Teresa in the studio to share his new book, ‘Sharp: A Memoir’ and his personal journey of living with and overcoming a severe mental illness.
David was raised in Guilford and spent nearly two-decades struggling with self-injury (cutting with razors) and bipolar depression. It took many hospital stays, a whole family, lots of experts, and friends, and through it all David learned that recovery is a life-long process and group effort.
David wants everyone to know that it is possible to live a healthy life with a mental illness and feels very strongly that both funding and greater understanding are crucial to helping people who either don’t have insurance or don’t have enough to cover the expense of treatment.
