(WTNH) - Mama's Boyz is a great way to get kids and young adults to read. Mama's Boyz is a positive depiction of African-American life!

About the author:

Jerry Craft grew up in New York City in Washington Heights. It was an ol' fashioned neighborhood, where friends played basketball, stickball, softball and touch football. Jerry attended got his BFA at the School Of Visual Arts before working in advertising for several years.

When the ad business began to tank in the early 90s, Jerry went back to drawing, where he was fortunate to be able to work with cartoonist Barbara Slate on comic books such as New Kids On The Block for Harvey Comics and Sweet 16 and Yuppies From Hell, two series that she developed for Marvel Comics.

In February of 1995, Mama's Boyz was picked up by the King Features Weekly Service--a collection of cartoons and columns that is distributed to more than 1,500 newspapers around the world.
