John Stephens and Mary Tedford from The Purr Project, Inc. talk about the Stray Cat Strut 5k race/walk.
The Purr Project, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to match stray and abandoned cats with safe homes.
Although The Purr Project is a separate organization from the hospital with our own volunteers and supplies, but they call New Haven Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine home. One advantage of being at the hospital is that it allows them to focus primarily on cats that would otherwise be euthanized, because they have suffered (sometimes serious) trauma or disease. The cats get 24-hour attention from a professional, experienced staff.
The Stray Cat Strut is a 5k event sanctioned by USA Track & Field that will draw an estimated 250 runners from around the region. With a course that travels through scenic - beachfront Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven, the event will be both challenging and fun.
There are 2 ways to register:
Pay the $25 entry fee or have family, friends, and coworkers sponsor your efforts.
Go to straycatstrut5k.com or purrproject.org for more information, to sign up online, or to download a sponsor sheet.
