(WTNH) - Parenting expert Bill Corbett teaches kids gratitude.

Some of his pointers:

  • Use a family meeting to write thank you notes or draw pictures of what they are thankful for
  • Teach by example by thanking others in front of them and pointing it out
  • Before or after a meal, have everyone share one thing they are thankful for
  • Have the family all participate in an activity of giving to others; soup kitchen or deliver a meal
  • Teach them about the origin of the Thanksgiving holiday

Corbett is the executive producer and host of the TV show Creating Cooperative Kids, a Dr. Phil type of talk show for parents. The show is currently running on over 75 public access stations in New England and Pennsylvania. He is also the author of "Love, Limits, & Lessons: A Parent's Guide to Raising Cooperative Kids."
