(WTNH) -- Bill Corbett talks about helping your kids deal with tragedy in the news.

His tips:
1. Limit their exposure to news about the event
2. Explain it to them in terms they can understand
3. Watch for unusual behaviors
4. Manage your own emotions
5. Create a home evacuation plan
6. Increase family time together

Corbett has been a national speaker and educator on discipline and child behavior since 1995. He is the author of the book series, "Love, Limits & Lessons: A Parent's Guide To Raising Cooperative Kids" and also the producer of the TV show "Creating Cooperative Kids - The Parenting Show."
