A good bank helps the communities around it. That’s why Citizens Bank created 'Champions in Action'. Champions in Action is an initiative under the ‘Citizens Helping Citizens Strengthen Communities’ ( www.citizensbank.com/community ) program, to support the efforts of charitable organizations working to make a difference locally.
In partnership with key media outlets, such as News 8, we provide unrestricted grants, volunteer support and publicity that help those organizations improve the quality of life in their communities. Since 2002, this program has awarded 267 grants for a total of more than $7 million in support.
The first 2013 Citizen’s Bank Champions In Action award recipient is the Greater Bridgeport Community Enterprises, Inc., which takes breaks down old mattresses for recycling and prevents 400+ mattresses a week from entering our landfills.
Citizen’s Bank Connecticut President, Ned Handy, was in the studio with Teresa to discuss this valuable program and to announce a Call for Applications to enter to win recognition for the second half of 2013 ( www.citizensbank.com/community ). The topic for this award is Arts & Culture and they are looking for non-profit organizations (501c3 required) whose mission is to showcase Connecticut’s diverse communities and its expression of the arts across our state.
For more information visit the Citizens Bank website at www.citizensbank.com/community for all the details. Application deadline for the Arts and Culture category is 5:00PM on March 8 th. Winners will be announced in July 2013.
