MADD's 18th Annual Tournament

(WTNH) - MADD’s upcoming events raise awareness on drunk driving and underage drinking.

MADD's 18th Annual Tournament in memory of Barbara and Jim Inverno killed by a 32-year-old elementary school teacher and mother who made the wrong choice to drink and drive. Her BAC was 0.24, 3x the legal level of .08

MADD'S mission is to stop drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime (at no cost) and prevent underage drinking. To support our mission, MADD CT hosts many fundraising event in honor/ memory of people that have been killed in alcohol-related crashes.

Key Statistics
-On average, one in three people will be involved in a drunk driving crash in their lifetime
-Almost every 90 seconds, a person is injured in a drunk driving crash
-Everyday in America, another 28 people die a a result of drunk driving crashes
-Drunk driving costs this country $132 billion a year
-Almost one in three 8th graders has tried alcohol
-Almost half of all 10th graders drink alcohol
-Teen alcohol use kills about 6,000 people each year, more than all illegal drugs combined
-Car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens, and about 1/3 of those are alcohol related
