Meeting the "Cake Boss"

Published : Friday, 04 May 2012, 3:26 PM EDT

(WTNH) -

Make-A-Wish makes one local girl’s wish come true.

Giana Cardonit's wish came true when she got to meet and bake a cake with Buddy from "Cake Boss." Giana shared some of her experiences from her trip to Hoboken, NJ as well as talk about World Wish Day.

World Wish Day honors the day the first wish was granted in 1980 when Chris Grecius wishes to be a police officer in Phoenix, AZ. Chapters from all over the world celebrate their wishes that will come true the week of April 29th in honor of World Wish Day.

Make-A-Wish's mission is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Make-A-Wish Connecticut has granted over 2,000 wishes, like Giana's, since its beginnings in 1986, and 125 in 2011 alone.

There are countless ways to get involved through events, volunteering, and even becoming a wish granter.
