Stage 8 presents: Freyja Edney

(WTNH) -- Freyja Edney has been training and performing since the age of 8. She spent 7 years at the Flying Fruit Fly Circus, graduating in 2007. Since graduating Freyja has taught at the Fruit Flies and at Little Devils Circus as well as facilitating numerous workshops.

Freyja’s performance experiences include performing at the 2005 World Expo in Aichi Japan, the 2006 Commonwealth Games Cultural Festival, touring the East Coast of Australia throughout 2007 as part of the national tour of Circus Girl, and performing in a schools tour of Go Super with Little Devils Circus this year.

Freyja first joined Circa in 2008, becoming a full time ensemble member in December 2009. She lists her highlights during this time as performing at the Barbican in the UK and most recently the Circa Festival in Auch France along with showcasing CIRCA at Cinars in 2010.

She will be performing at the International Festival of Arts & Ideas in New Haven on Friday June 29 at 8 p.m. and Sat June 20 at 2 p.m.

The International Festival of Arts & Ideas is a 15-day festival of performing arts, lectures, and conversations that celebrates the greatest artists and thinkers from around the world. Each June, the Festival takes over the theaters, open spaces, and courtyards of New Haven, Connecticut with performances and dialogues that tickle the senses, engage the mind, and inspire the soul.

More than 80% of Festival programs are completely free to the public, including events that feature some of the most prestigious jazz, classical, dance, and theater artists in the world.
