(WTNH) -- The exhibit “THEM” at the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, which runs until Monday, September 3, is about images that reinforce stereotypes and us/them points of view.
The images are graphic and difficult to look at; they are cruel, confrontational and exploitive. However, the center exhibits them to remind us all to be aware and to stand against such attitudes and behavior.
The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center is the home of 19th century author who wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin, the century’s biggest bestseller, which changed American attitudes before the Civil War.
The center opened to the public in 1968 and it's currently open year round.
