Trips of a Lifetime

(WTNH) - With all the snow this winter, people are looking to get away for Spring Break this year. Travel agent and expert Allison Umbricht is here to talk about tips and tricks of booking a great Spring Break getaway and some fantastic Spring Break deals.

- First decide if you want to fly or stay local. There are benefits of each. Flying can take you away to the sun but you may be limited in dates and times you go. If you are on a tight budget, staying local can give you more flexibility but you’ll have to leave the sunscreen at home.

- Cruises are one of the best values out there and appeal couples and families alike.

- All inclusive resorts in Mexico & the Caribbean offer the best land value and savings.

- Consider off season destinations such as spring skiing.

- Check flights first – often at this time of year, flights are the most costly component of a vacation due to limited availability.

- If you can, use frequent flyer miles - many people change their original desired destination if they want to use miles.

- Look into booking a vacation package – often the air and hotel are discounted when booked together.
