(WTNH) -- St. Andrew the Apostle Society serves a traditional dish.
Society of St. Andrew’s is celebrating the 112th Annual Italian Feast in Honor of St. Andrew the Patron Saint of Amalfi.
Amalfi is known for their fish as St. Andrew is the patron saint of fisherman.
The festial takes place Thursday June 21st to Sunday June 24th. It's the only Italian Festival in Wooster Square. Learn more at www.ssaanewhaven.com
Zuppa De Mussels
Prepared by Chef Frankie Calabrese
For the St. Andrew the Apostle Society
Ingredients:
1 dozen fresh mussels debearded
¼ cup olive oil
½ lemon
½ cup clam juice
¼ cup white wine (if makingwhite)
¼ cup red wine (if making red)
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
Red pepper
2 teaspoon butter
Pasta of choice
White sauce:
Sauté one teaspoon chopped garlic into ¼ cup olive oil
Once garlic is brown, add mussels, sauté until slightly open
Add clam juice, lemon and white wine
Add 2 teaspoon butter
Continue to cook until the mussels are fully open
Sever over pasta of choice or sever alone with garlic crostinis
Red sauce:
Sauté one teaspoon chopped garlic into ¼ cup olive oil
Once garlic is brown, add mussels, sauté until slightly open
Add clam juice
Add marinara sauce
¼ cup red wine
Continue to cook until the mussels are fully open
Sever over pasta of choice or sever alone with garlic crostinis
