(WTNH) -- Governor Malloy is pushing for more schools in our state to take advantage of breakfast programs.

For eight consecutive years Connecticut has ranked last in the nation for the number of schools offering the School Breakfast Program.

A number of studies show kids who eat breakfast receive better test scores and are more likely to graduate.

"We would be able to predict an additional 6,500 children would graduate from high school who might not otherwise graduate because they leave, because they get discouraged, because they didn't have the kind of test scores and grades that allowed them to continue on successfully in school," said Gov. Malloy.

The Governor says 22-million dollars that could be used to feed hungry children in the morning is being left on the table in Washington.
