A national workers organization claims that CVS drug stores are selling expired products, including baby formula and over-the-counter drugs.
CVS customers that News Channel 8 spoke to assumed that the products they bought are up to date and safe to sell.
"I've never had any problems, but I have to tell you, I never look to see if it is good, if they are expired," said Elsie Pratt of Bridgeport.
Turns out the CVS where Elsie shops in Bridgeport is where Change to Win claims they found expired baby formula for sale. In fact, they say they visited 20 CVS stores in Fairfield County and found expired products in 11 of them.
The group demonstrated outside CVS stores in 9 states, claiming that the drug store chain has a pattern of selling expired products.
In a statement CVS said, "We have a clear product removal policy to ensure items are removed before they reach their expiration date. No process is immune from error. We strive to achieve 100-percent compliance."
Attorney General Richard Blumenthal says he has received similar complaints and is now investigating.
