PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTNH)-- An arrest was made Monday, following a fatal car accident in Plainfield on January 1st.
Police say Zachariah Silvestri, 22, formerly of Plainfield and now residing in NY, was traveling northbound on Spaulding Road around 2:10 AM, when he veered the car to the right side of the road, striking a tree and turning the car on its roof.
Silvestri was trapped in the car but was then extricated and taken to William W. Backus Hospital, where he was treated and released for his injuries.
The front seat passenger Trevor Swabby, 21, of Sterling, was also treated and released from the hospital for his injuries.
The rear seat passenger, Cory Carlsen, 21, of Sterling, was ejected from the car and died at the scene.
After an investigation, Plainville police issued an arrest warrant for Silvestri, who turned himself into police Monday morning around 7:30 AM.
Silvestri is charged with manslaughter with a motor vehicle and operating under the influence.
He was released after posting a $75,000 bond and will appear in court on January 22nd.
