New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - A new business is shifting into gear in New Haven.
Paul Hammer hit the streets in his pedicab on October 1st.
"You set the fare and we'll take you almost anywhere, that's what we say, it's pay what you can," Paul explained.
He takes the money and puts them towards his non-profit, a bicycle fitness and nutrition program for diabetics and obese children and adults in Fair Haven. Hammer says, it's a win-win all around.
"It's clean, it's green and it's making me lean," he said.
Troy Lewis spotted the Paul just as he left Union Station.
"And I was like, wow, this was perfect, you know, it was just right on time, seriously," Troy said.
As they pedaled through the streets, Hammer provided what he calls transport-tainment. He'll sing or give you a tour. Paul has three bikes and four drivers so far and they're working rush hour, lunch hour, bar closings and special events. He estimates they bike about 50 miles a day.
"I think it's great, I think it's great, I mean, anything that cuts down on the emissions from cars and so on, I'm all for it," Troy said.
Paul says he hopes to keep going throughout the winter, it just depends on how bad the weather gets.
