Seminar to be held on Conn. paid sick leave law

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut's Department of Labor has scheduled its third seminar for small employers on the state's new paid sick leave law , which takes effect Jan. 1.

Agency spokeswoman Nancy Steffens said the department decided on a third informational session after the overwhelming turnout at two previous events.

The third seminar is set for 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Jan. 12 at the agency's offices in Wethersfield. Registration is required and there is a $25 fee.

Human resource professionals, business owners, managers, lawyers and others are advised to attend the seminar. It will review what kinds of employers are covered by the law and who is considered an eligible service worker under the law and when an employee is allowed to use the paid leave.
