Showcase of alternate fuel vehicles

Wallingford, Conn. (WTNH) - Lots of high tech cars and trucks are being showcased at an alternative fuel vehicle expo Tuesday in Wallingford.

It's almost like a game of hide and seek trying to find the fuel source. In one the propane tank is in the trunk. In another tanks are stacked in a row behind the cab of a big rig.

Every car is different. There are plugs in the back, on the side or right in the front.

The 2011 Clean Cities Alternative Fuels and Advanced Technology Vehicles Expo is aimed at corporations or municipalities, trying to convince them to buy fleets of alternative fuel vehicles.

While visitors to the expo will see all sorts of ways to hit the road here, you won't find any price tags. But ask and you may get sticker shock. One tractor costs about $220,000, not including the trailer.

That's a lot of green to go green, but gasoline savings can be significant. And once you figure it out it grows on you.
