Plainville, Conn. (WTNH) - General Electric is getting ready to flip the switch so owners of electric vehicles can power up up their cars.
GE is unveilling it's new solar powered charging station in Plainville. The station, or carport as it's known, is near GE's facility in town.
Owners of electric cars like the Cheverolet Volt will be able to drive up, plug in their car and get recharged.
GE says the carport can charge 13 electric cars a day. The amount of energy produced is equivalent to power 20 homes per year.
Governor Dannel Malloy and other GE officials will be on hand for the formal unveiling.
