WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) — A 13-year-old girl has been arrested after police say she drove a stolen car and struck two stopped vehicles, causing the car to flip onto its side.

The Republican-American reports that Acting Deputy Police Chief Christopher Corbett says the girl, who was not identified because of her age, fled on foot after the accident on Saturday. Officers say they found her hiding beneath a vehicle.

She was charged with larceny, evading responsibility, reckless driving and other motor vehicle charges. The girl was to be released to the custody of her parents to appear in Waterbury Juvenile Court.

Corbett said some of the occupants of the car that flipped onto its side were hospitalized, but injuries weren't serious.

The number of occupants in the other two cars wasn't available.
