HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is naming an expert in terrorist financing and financial crimes at the U.S. Department of Treasury as his new top attorney.

Luke Bronin will replace Andrew McDonald the current general counsel to the governor's office who Malloy nominated to the Connecticut State Supreme Court. Malloy said Bronin is a personal friend.

The 33-year-old Bronin recently served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes at the Treasury in Washington, DC. He also served in Afghanistan as a U.S. Navy Reserve officer.

A graduate of Yale Law School and former chief of staff to the president of The Hartford Financial Services Group's property and casualty operations, Bronin said he was looking forward to returning to Connecticut with his family.
