STORRS, Conn. (AP) — The University of Connecticut has confirmed that it plans to change its logo.

The news was first reported this week by the school's student newspaper, The Daily Campus.

Athletic Department spokesman Mike Enright says details of the rebranding project, including the new school logo will be released in mid-April.

The Daily Campus, citing student athletes who had seen the new logo, said the familiar image of a Husky dog with its tongue hanging out will be replaced by a more intimidating-looking Husky.

Enright says the school is working with apparel partner Nike on the rebranding, and there is no cost to UConn.
