NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A Norwich police officer shot four times during a confrontation with a distraught gunman last week has been readmitted to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Hospital spokesman Mark D'Antonio says Officer Jonathan Ley returned Monday for undisclosed reasons. D'Antonio says Ley is listed in good condition.

Ley was one of several officers who responded to a report of an armed suicidal man at the Cedar Glen Apartment Complex on Jan. 7. Police say 30-year-old Jason Razzino opened fire on the responding officers and wounded Ley, who was wearing a bulletproof vest. Police say Razzino later killed himself during a standoff that lasted several hours.

The 38-year-old Ley is a 14-year veteran of the city police force and longtime Coast Guard reservist.

State police are investigating the shootout and standoff.
