Amtrak suspends service

New York to Boston closed due to Earl

New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - Overhead electrical system damage from a tree which fell from outside Amtrak property in Waterford and more severe weather forecasted this evening has led Amtrak to suspend all through service between New York and South Station in Boston.

Those passengers currently on Amtrak trains in the affected area are being returned to their stations.

Amtrak will issue further statements regarding Hurricane Earl directly on Amtrak.com, Twitter and Facebook and on 1-800-USA-RAIL. WTNH.com will update as information becomes available.

Information is subject to change as conditions warrant. Passengers are encouraged to call 1-800-USA-RAIL or visit Amtrak.com for schedule information and train status updates.
