GROTON, Conn. (AP) — The submarine USS Toledo is returning to the Navy base in Groton following a deployment that lasted nearly seven months.

The Navy says the Los Angeles-class attack sub covered more than 25,000 miles and visited ports in Israel, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Portugal.

The sub left its homeport on March 23 and is returning to the Naval Submarine Base on Friday.

The Toledo was commissioned in 1995. It is commanded by Cmdr. Sam Geiger, a native of Monroe, La.
