(WTNH) -- There is still shock in the NFL tonight after Kansas City Chiefs player Javon Belcher killed his girlfriend and then himself over the weekend. Belcher's agent lives here in Connecticut and like everyone else, he can't believe what happened.

According to reports, Belcher shot his girlfriend, the mother of his 3 month old baby, several times, then he drove to the chief's practice facility and shot himself in front of his head coach and general manager.

His girlfriend was 22. Belcher was 25.

Before yesterday's Chiefs game, the team held a moment of silence for domestic abuse victims.

As for Belcher, he was known for his work ethic and although he wasn't drafted into the NFL, he worked his way into a starting role.

His Agent, Branford's Joe Linta was as surprised as anyone that Belcher could do such a thing.

"The Javon that I knew is a caring, giving individual who was well spoken, he was articulate. He was in New Haven many times over the last five years, giving to our charity events, working with kids clinics. The way he interacted with the young kids was just amazing to me and everybody around here had a great impression of him," Linta said. "I have spoken to him recently and nothing, very proud of his baby who was born recently and you know, happy and chipper every time I spoke with him. No signs of any darkness in his life that I can see and regardless of if there was ill will towards his girlfriend or what have you, I would have said think about your baby, think about your future, think about your family, and you know, you just can't do this, you're hurting so many people that love you."
