HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut's chief medical examiner has withdrawn his recent resignation after finding out that another job in his office may not be available for him.

H. Wayne Carver II told the Connecticut Post  on Tuesday that he had assumed he would be able to drop his manager duties and join the five other physicians in his office who perform autopsies. But he says that's not a sure thing.

Carver announced on Jan. 26 that he would be stepping down from the post he's held for more than two decades when a new chief is appointed, but staying on the staff. He says he's not sure of his employment status at this point.

The governor's budget chief says Carver's employment is an issue for the state Commission on Medicolegal Investigations.
