HOPKINTON, R.I. (AP) — A 44-year-old leader of a Connecticut Boy Scout troop has died after collapsing at a Rhode Island scout reservation.
The Providence Journal reports that David Collier of Mystic, Conn., was running an obstacle "challenge course" at Camp Yawgoog in Hopkinton when he collapsed shortly before 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
Camp officials say he was not with the boys from his troop and was on the course with another adult leader when he was stricken.
A spokesman from the Boy Scouts' Narragansett Council said Collier was from Mystic Troop 76 in Connecticut.
The 1,800-acre camp is in its 97th year of operation. It is expected to get more than 6,400 campers this season.
