HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has ordered U.S. and Connecticut flags to fly at half-staff in honor of the U.S. ambassador and other American personnel killed in an attack on a consulate in Benghazi.
Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed when a group of embassy employees went to the consulate to try to evacuate staff as the building came under attack by a mob armed with guns and rocket propelled grenades.
The order issued Wednesday by Malloy calls for flags to stay at half-staff until sunset on Sunday.
The governor said he stands with President Barack Obama and the rest of the country in condemning the perpetrators of the attack.
