NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut is trying to promote the development of industries that find ways to use recycled products.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is sponsoring a program Thursday at Central Connecticut State University to foster discussion among industries that recover, process and manufacture materials from waste.

Topics include manufacturing and product development of recycled items, institutional and commercial food scrap recovery, waste businesses and community economic development and building statewide capacity for food scrap recycling.

The conference will try to find ways to increase market development and the processing and manufacturing of products made of recycled materials.
