MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- The Red Cross is helping about a dozen people find a new place to stay for now, after a fire forced them out of their Meriden apartment building.
Fire officials were called to the Crown Village Apartments on Crown Street around 1 o'clock Monday afternoon and quickly called a second alarm.
"Between the complexity of the building, and the number of people that were in the building, you need the additional manpower to get the people out, search for people, and then also move your lines around for your suppression operations," said Chief James Trainor, Meriden Fire Department.
Nobody was hurt.
Four apartments were heavily damaged.
The fire is under investigation.
