Memorial Day weekend accident stats

(WTNH/AP) -- As of midnight Monday night, State Police reported 279 accidents on state roads and highways during the Memorial Day weekend.
One of those accidents was fatal , and 57 had injuries.
Additionally, police reported 77 DWI arrests, 1,797 speeding tickets, 816 seat belt violations, and 150 cell phone violations.
Troopers participated with police in other states in the national Combined Accident Reduction Effort program, or CARE. The Connecticut enforcement effort ran from Friday through midnight on Monday.
During Memorial Day weekend last year, Connecticut state police responded to 260 accidents including four fatal crashes.
