DURHAM, Conn. (WTNH) -- Several parks across the state had to turn away visitors, as parking lots were filled to capacity.
Many who were psyched about a refreshing dip at Millers Pond State Park were forced to leave without a cool off. Park-goers told News 8 that for several hours, it was one car out, one car in.
Closings also happened at Wadsworth Falls, Chatfield Hollow, Kent Falls and Bigelow Hollow State Park. Officials said that Pattaconk was not quite at maximum capacity, but they got close.
"We got mad there's no parking spots, they need another, a big thing because we come to this lake all the time," said Precious Cruz. "Just because there's no parking spots, that's messed up."
"You gotta get here early as early as you can," explained Steven Santos, "if you get here late you won't be able to come in."
Some of the officers in the area said that it is early in the season for it to be so busy. It typically it doesn't get this busy until July 4th.
