(WTNH) - Saturday's the day in which two new area codes will be put in to use.

Now area codes 475 and 959 will join our old standards, 203 and 860. It's need-based, so the new numbers beginning December 12th, will get the new area codes.

Dialing will be the tricky part. The additional numbers means using complete numbers; that means dialing ten digits. It will require some re-programming of your phones

Business too, will be affected. Security Companies that have numbers programmed to alert police and other agencies must now re-set their computers.

Please keep in mind, on local calls, it will be area code and number. Only on long distance calls will it be necessary to dial the numeral one.

Utility regulators say people will need to reprogram their fax machines, Internet dial-up programs, security systems, cell phone contact lists and other equipment to include the area code.

The change won't affect 911 emergency lines or the 211 information line.
