South Windsor (WTNH) - Connecticut is a step closer to the action when it comes to making movies.
Monday, the final parcels of state and town-owned property were
transferred to the developer of a proposed film and television
studio in South Windsor.
Governor Jodi Rell made it official at a ceremony.
'Connecticut Studios' will be home to eight sound stages, bringing high tech production jobs and a lot of excitement to the area.
"It will have positive economic stimulus for the entire Hartford region. Yes, we will create thousands of jobs. These will all be well paying jobs. Yes, we will contribute, very vitally to the economy with state and local revenues," said Art Katersky of Connecticut Studios.
Initially the project will create 550 construction jobs. When
completed, the developer says there will be 114 permanent jobs and
up to 1,500 studio production jobs on an annual basis.
They hope to break ground early next year.
