Guilford (WTNH) - An early morning crash in Guilford killed 17-year-old Michelle DiVicino and seriously injured another teen.

Police say the accident happened at 1:30 Saturday morning on Durham Road in Guilford. The car swiped a telephone pole, rolled several times and landed in a field alongside the road.

EMS officials say DiVicino, a senior at Coginchaug Regional High School, was a passenger in the car, had severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers say the driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Brian Peeler, of Durham, was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital. He was listed as critical upon arrival.

DiVicino's body was taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

No other cars were involved, police said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
