(WTNH) - The confessed mastermind of the 9-11 attacks and four of his alleged accomplices are going on trial in New York City. For people living in Connecticut, impacted by the events of that day, there are lots of feelings over the trial.

The New Canaan based "Voices of September 11th" is still in the process of gathering opinions from the hundreds of family members who have been calling and e-mailing. News Channel 8 spoke with one survivor who is ready and eager that the trial get underway.

Duane Orloske of Windsor lost his wife Margret; she was on the 96th floor of Tower One.

"Having them tried here in the United States, where they allegedly committed the crimes, I think it speaks well for our judicial system," Orloske said.

A concern may be that any defense attorney may claim that those involved were illegally tortured and it's possible they could be acquitted.

Orloske replied to that sentiment by saying, "I don't know if it's going to come in the trial. I trust that our Attorney General would be bringing this case if the evidence that he's going to be using to try to convict that was a result of torturing."

When asked if he is worried about the risk of another attack, because we are bringing to the convicted to Manhattan, Orloske said no. "If we are going to allow our fear of a terrorist attack dictate what our legal system's going to do and do as a country then they've already won."

Orloske said that he doesn't want revenge; he is interested in justice.

"I want the people that caused this 9/11 to occur to be brought to justice. I think, you know, putting them in a maximum security prison for the rest of their lives would be actually a better punishment than putting them to death because given their view on martyrdom, I think you'd just be giving them a gift by doing that," said Orloske.

"Voices of September 11th" has planned teleconference groups later this month to allow members like Orloske to discuss all the issues surrounding this trial and to determine what response and help the group will be offering to the hundreds of survivors of 9/11 here in Connecticut and elsewhere in the region.
