MADISON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Camping sites were booked solid and parking was at a premium at Connecticut's state parks for the long Labor Day weekend.
At Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, supervisors say all 552 camping sites have been booked for a while. But the beach is still an option and the Nature Center is open with daily programs for kids and families.
Park supervisors are thrilled this has been an extremely busy summer.
"We're approximately 15 percent above where we were last year as far as visitation and we should topple two million this year," Henry Alves, Hammonasset Beach State Park, said.
Just because the summer is drawing to a close it doesn't mean the park will shut down. There are many activities there throughout the year.
