(WTNH) - A group of Connecticut teenagers are about to hit it big in the music industry.
Kicking Daisies is comprised of 17-year old Caitlin Kalafus, on drums, 14-year old Carly Kalafus is on bass, 14-year old Duran Veesek is their lead vocalist and 13-year old Ben Spremulli is on guitar.
Ben explains the origin of their band name saying, "It's like yin and yang thing, light and heavy. Kicking is heavy, daisy is light, balance everything out,"
Ben founded Kicking Daisies, picking up the guitar at the age of 10. Duran was brought up to Connecticut from Florida and then they hooked up with Caitlin, a local drumming sensation.
The Kicking Daisies are working with people like Mike Mangini, who produced the first Jonas Brothers record.
"They spend 8 hours a day working on music. It can only get better from here," said Mangini.
All of the kids are home schooled so that they can record and tour.
"Even though we miss out on teenage stuff, like prom, we are going through our own experiences. So much different, but still amazing," Carly said.
The adults in their lives are supportive of these young, driven kids with rock star dreams.
"I don't think I am pulling the wool over anyone's eyes. If anything, I am doing them a favor by saying 'you should come in here and listen to them," said their tour manager, Rich Herzfeld.
You can check out the Kicking Daisies Friday, March 19th at Rock Out 2010 in Danbury.
