(WTNH) -- At noon we asked viewers to weigh in on the dream act, a policy where illegal immigrants can "pay to stay," and boy did the calls pour in.

Doreen from Waterbury said, "I think more concentration should actually be made on getting people who are actually from this country and who have lived here their whole life jobs. If people want to come to this country they should expect to wait in line like everybody else. They shouldn't have it handed to them."

Ralph from West Haven said, "they charge them a $450 fee just to apply to stay here legally, it's kind of like a rip off, like who has that kind of money."

Patty from East Haven said, "I think Americans are taking a big hit every day, because when things are really bad, they raise the prices. And these immigrants, how in the world are they gonna come up with 400 and something dollars, when you can't even hardly buy a loaf of bread. What the heck."

Allen from Torrington said, "I don't know why we keep helping people from other countries when we don't help our own. There's people in our own state that can't afford to eat or pay their rent. And yet we take and we keep on helping immigrants. We're all gonna go to hell in a hand bag."
