(WTNH) -- A proposal out of New Britain to fine kids who skip school has many viewers sounding off in tonight's Voice of the People.
Laura from Waterbury said, "I'm sure many of the schools will adopt this same sort of charge. I think making community service...would take them away from their friends, time away from their computers and make them think about why they should be at school instead of ditching. As far as the money goes, I think it's just another way to extract revenue from taxpayers and the children will not learn from that."
Titus from New Haven said, "I think they should put in place, because some of the kids is hanging out and their parents don't really care if they go to school or not. So, I think it would be a good plan, thank you."
Juan from Waterbury said, "I think that whole $75 thing is wrong cause some of these kids don't even go to school, when their parents think they do go to school, so I don't think it's fair on the parents."
Tanya from New Britain said, "I think they should bring truancy officer back...if they do decide to do this, it should be under the guide that they will have to do community service, the child themselves, it's so unfair, bring back the truant officer."
