(WTNH) -- Connecticut residents remember Tropical Storm Irene, one year ago today. Recent shootings and rising gas prices also have viewers fired up.

Debbie from New Haven said, "I was at Cosey Beach Avenue and I stayed in the house and watched the storm and saw the sliding glass doors come crashing through."

Gio from Shelton said, "Listen about the person that was shot, the clerk. Connecticut abolished that law with no death penalty. Now, everyone is going crazy and killing people."

Jackie from New Haven, said, "You wonder why people are robbing and killing people just for a few bucks at a convenience store, it's because of these gas prices and everything else [costs] way too much.

Mark from Branford said, "You wonder why people leave this state to go other states, it's because of the prices. I can't believe what I just saw on TV, [gas prices are] a quarter more than the rest of the nation. $3.37 and we're paying $4.00. The government we've got in this state is the worst."
