Voice of the People: Dec. 17, 2012

(WTNH) -- We've gotten many calls since the tragedy at Sandy Hook. Some telling us what they think is causing the violence, some weighing in on our coverage and some who just wanted to give their condolences to the families who've lost so much. Here's tonight's Voice of the People.

Linda from Plainville said, "what my request is to Mr. President Obama is, please, please get these automatic weapons out of the hands of these people. Give them back to the police and back to the army. We do not need to have these weapons."

Marilyn from New Haven said, "people keep saying it's gun control that needs to be addressed, but I think you need to know the reason that the people do these crazy shootings is because of video game violence. The seed is planted somewhere, guns will always be available, but these were legally registered guns, but the idea to do such a crazy thing, to shoot so many people, I believe comes from the video games."

John from Plainfield said, "it seems as though the media is almost making folk heroes amongst the unstable and the insane out of these people. Please consider not airing their picture and their name. It's the people who died that are important, not the individual, the crazy person who did the killing."

Anonymous said, "all I can say is there's 20 angels up there, and six guardian angels looking over them."
