(WTNH) --  The tragedy in Newtown has people everywhere sounding off about gun control and mental health issues. And people are also weighing in on whether teachers should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Jackie from Clinton said, "why can't the teachers have some sort of a stun gun? I can't help but feel that if these teachers had something like that verses a handgun with ammunition in it that can kill, the stun gun...why can't something like that be used in the schools?"

Bob from Bethel said, "I agree with having trained teachers carry firearms in the school. Maybe there can be an organized program and have trained teachers be an extension of the security working with the local police department."

Steve from Plantsville said, "you know everybody is up in arms about gun control. What about the mental health system in this country. The mental health system in this country has failed. And it's time people started to look at it and improve it. Not only that, when do you draw the line between being responsible parents and your second amendment right."

Susan from Uncasville said, "I was up at Sandy Hook yesterday and I think maybe it's time that people should leave the town alone, so that the residents can try and get their lives back together. Maybe it's time that we leave that town alone so that they can come to grips with what's really going on. Pray for those people at Sandy Hook, thank you, bye."
